Wilma Lee "Mickey" Smith went peacefully to heaven on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at her home in Pipe Creek, Texas. She was 91 years of age.\r\n\r\nShe was born January 28, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Odessa Wilder Dossey and Tom Dossey. Wilma was a graduate of Brackenridge High School where she was an active member of the "Purple Jackets" and the "Gold Bugs." On June 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frank M. Smith in San Antonio, Texas. The marriage lasted for 50 years until Frank's death in 1997. The family lived in Big Spring, Texas and Goose Bay, Labrador before they returned to San Antonio. Wilma served God as a longtime and faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church where she also served as church secretary for over 20 years. She was a member of the Riverside Garden Club. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothing for her grandchildren. Hobbies included sewing, quilting and "birding." Wilma was a resident of Pipe Creek and attended Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lois, Ava Jean and Letta Joyce; grandson, Michael Corson; and her husband, Frank M. Smith. Survivors include her son, Michael Smith and wife Rhonda of Pipe Creek, Texas; daughter, Nancy Corson and husband Don of Raleigh, North Carolina; sister, Lula Fay Murray of Valley View, Texas; grandchildren, Chris and Matt Corson, Meghann Chonowski and husband Andrew, and Garrison Smith; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Finn, Sam and Evan Corson; nieces, Janice Hill and Sharon Watson and Cheryl Murray and Judy Chapman as well as extended family members and treasured friends.\r\n\r\nA graveside service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Jack Stevens and Rev. Cheryl Murray officiating. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church or to any Bandera County animal care charity.\r\n\r\nFort Sam shelter assignment will not be available until Friday, April 5th. Those planning to attend should enter the main gate off of Harry Wurzbach, go past the flag pole and follow the directions.\r\n\r\n
