William Schwethelm

William Cade Schwethelm, age 89, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015. He was born in Kerrville on June 19, 1925 to Otto and Bela Faltin Schwethelm. \r\n \r\nHe was a member of two Hill Country Pioneer families - Faltin and Schwethelm. \r\n \r\nCade attended Kerrville schools, Schreiner Institute and for a short time, Trinity University before returning home to start a career as a rancher. He spent most of his early life out at the ranch learning how to speak German and Spanish as well as how to ranch. He was a gentleman and the best dancer in Kerr County. When he fed his cattle, they would eat out of his hand and when he fed his sheep and goats, they would run to his truck. Cade started Kerrville Realty in 1973 and was County Commissioner for Precinct 3 for 16 years.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harry; and sister in law, Happy.\r\n \r\nThose left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, George Anne; step-sons, Clayton Nieman and Randy Nieman and wife, Beth; his daughter, Phyllis Shelton and husband, Dave; granddaughters, Adrienne Blount and husband, Rob and Erin Shelton; great granddaughters, Evelyn and Amy. He was also related to every German family in Texas.\r\n \r\nMany thanks to all the people at Brookdale who made the last days of Cade's life pleasant.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2015, 5-7 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015, 4 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. John Wheat. Burial will be held privately.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Scoliosis Foundation.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
