William Cafferty

William H. Cafferty, age 79 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1937 in Hamilton, OH to Herbert L. and Hazel Irene (Jestice) Cafferty. On May 30, 1976, he married Jeanette Garcia in San Antonio.\r\n \r\nBill retired three times - first, from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant, then from the Army/Air Force Exchange Service as Vice President of Loss Prevention Directorate; and then as a Retail Loss Prevention Consultant for Ace Hardware. Bill's hobby was his work.\r\n \r\nHe was a member of First United Methodist Church, and the Kerrville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association where he served three times as president. He also served in both the Vietnam and Korean Wars.\r\n \r\nSurvivors include wife, Jeanette of Kerrville; daughter, Valerie Faith Cafferty of Ft. Worth; son, Michael William Cafferty of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; the mother of his children, H. Faye Cafferty of Elizabethtown, KY; grandson, Devin Cafferty, Lexington, KY; sister, Joan Peters of Hamilton, Ohio; brother in law, Arthur G. Garcia (Karen) of San Antonio, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family throughout the nation and friends considered as family.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be held 10 AM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Donna Magee. Interment will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Operation Home Front, 1355 Center Pkwy. S., Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78232; Kerrville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, PO Box 290629, Kerrville, TX 78029; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202; or please donate blood and platelets to your local blood bank.\r\n \r\nThe family wishes to thank and acknowledge the following for their devoted care and concern: Dr. David Sprouse, Family Physician; Dr. Rebecca Barrington and her team, Texas Oncology Center; Staff, Peterson Regional Hospital and Peterson Hospice.\r\n
