Bill Burger passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father at the age of 89.\r\n \r\nBill was born in Lexington, KY on December 14, 1926 to William O. Burger and Mary Lorene Meadows but grew up and attended school in Nashville, TN.\r\n \r\nAfter high school, Bill enlisted in the Navy during WWII and saw combat in the South Pacific aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. He made many friends there and loved to reminisce about his time aboard the ship.\r\n \r\nAfter he was discharged from the Navy, Bill married Jeanette Pingston and they had two children, Patricia and Steve. He continued to work in Nashville at Coleman, Inc. and various consultation firms until he moved to Houston in 1979. It was there in that same year that he met Betty Rutherford and they married in 1986. Bill and Betty moved from Houston to Galveston and then to LaGrange and finally to Kerrville where they knew that this was where they wanted to retire.\r\n \r\nBill was co-owner of Lift Masters for many years while in Galveston and then turned his attention to hand drawing house plans for clients in his spare time and helping with the construction when needed while in LaGrange and Kerrville. His house plans were indeed a work of art.\r\n \r\nBill leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Betty Burger, son, Steve, his wife Audrey, and grandchildren, Connor, Kaitlyn and Dent all of Lebanon, TN, a daughter, Patricia, grandson Michael of Houston, stepson, Mark Rutherford, wife Wendy, children Wyatt and Savana of Kerrville, his step-granddaughter, Laura and her husband, Daniel, and their children, Avery and Austin of Cypress, TX his sister Joan and her husband, Jimmy of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law Shirley Barth of Kerrville, niece Jana McDermott and her husband, David, their children Travis and Clayton, and their wives and families.\r\n \r\nEveryone who knew Bill called him the sweetest man they knew, he never said a bad word about anyone, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be from 9:30 AM-10:30 am at Grimes Funeral Chapels, followed by a graveside service at Garden of Memories cemetery at 11 AM on Friday, June 24, 2016.\r\n \r\nWe'll meet again!
