Rev. Wesley M. Weston, 81, of Kerrville went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 17, 2017 with his daughter Melody (Weston) Nelson & husband Elwood Nelson, & grandchildren, Justin Mooney & Sonia Pape all by his side at home.\r\n \r\nWes was born August 29, 1935 in Clarendon, Texas, son of Jack and Lila (Parker) Weston. His parents moved to Calif who later divorced and his mother left who he never saw again. His father Jack, shipped Wes at age 2 yrs old with his older brother Bill Weston 4 yrs old alone on a train to their Aunt Will Ella (Weston) Martin to be raised in Spearman, TX. From this point forward Wes & Bill's mother and father were Will Ella (Weston) & J.H. (Chip) Martin and they took both boys in and treated as their own, along with their two younger sons, James & Eddie Martin. They grew up on a farm and went to school there in Spearman, TX. \r\n \r\nWes loved to play football. In 1950 at age 14 he had his eyes on the new pastor's daughter, Charletta Dale. Wes was sure about two things: he would be a minister and he would marry Charletta. Two years later they were married on June 22, 1953 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year! They were unable to conceive their own child so they adopted Melody Joy in 1959. They were so happy! They pastored their first church in Magnolia, Arkansas. Then in 1963 they adopted another child, a boy named Teddy Dale. They moved to Jonesboro, Ark and Wes worked for the Government for 10 years and ministered in churches in Arkansas and Texas for over 67 years. The Weston's son Teddy had a disease for some time with alcohol and now The Lord sent Wes to get involved with Dr. Seale & at that time it was Starlite Village Hospital. He always had a heart people who were hurting. Wes became Chaplain there and helped with security. One time a patient walked off the facility in the rain and Wes followed them. The patient went in the woods and sat under a tree. Wes went up to the patient and asked why don't you come on with me and let's go back to the facility get you dry and let's talk. The patient said no. Wes sat down by the patient under the tree in the rain. The patient said why are you sitting here, you don't have to. Go on back, get out of here. Wes said, if you going to stay out here I am too. I'm not leaving you out here alone. I care about you and I want to help you. Wes just kept talking to him and finally he realized he did care and he was not going to leave him out there. So, the patient said well no use in both of us sitting out here getting wet and cold and possibly getting sick. I'll go back with you. Then the next Sunday he was in the chapel, gave his heart to The Lord and left a New Man! \r\n\r\nThe Weston's purchased an abandoned church in Center Point, TX and opened it for services in 1995 naming it Sonlight Chapel in memory of their son, Teddy and dedicated to God's son Jesus. The Weston's realized they were not to retire yet the Lord just moved them into a different line of ministry working with people with addictions and recovery, healing the hurting heart, saving souls, and the church doors are open to everyone. \r\n \r\nWes is preceded in death by: Birth-Father, Jack Weston, Birth-Mother, Lila (Parker) Weston, Father, J.H.
