Wanda Marie Fannin Henderson, 86, was born June 4, 1931 in Frederick, Oklahoma but moved to Marlin, Texas area when she was a year old. On January 30, 2018 she passed away in the home she and Temple built sixty years ago. She was the middle child of three children, born to William Warren and Juanita Fannin.\r\n \r\nShe graduated from Marlin High School and attended North Texas University for one year. \r\n \r\nWanda lived in Kerr County for more than fifty years. Coming here as a sixteen-year old to work on a dude ranch was when she met a good-looking cowboy, Temple Henderson, and her future was set.\r\n \r\nTemple and Wanda married the following year on June 27, 1948, at Stranger, Texas, near Marlin. They were married 69 1/2 years and were the parents of four: Tom, Jan, James Warren and Russell. Needing a home for their family in the late 50's, they literally built a house.\r\n \r\nAlways community-minded, Wanda served in many capacities. She was involved in her kids 4-H and FFA activities; belonged to the Kerr County Historical and Genealogy Societies, as well as the American Business Women's Association. She served as Sunday School teacher for many years, sang in the choir, was a member of the Hill Country Cowboy Camp Meeting auxiliary and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. She worked at KERV radio station, then opened the tax office for the Ingram Independent School District, working there for five years. Following that, she worked in several positions in local banks. During this time, she also worked alongside Temple at the Henderson Feed Store taking care of all of the books.\r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, William and Juanita Fannin, her husband Temple Henderson, her brother and sister-in-law Wilbur and Lucy Fannin, and her son Bert Thomas Henderson.\r\n \r\nWanda is survived by three children: daughter, Emily Jan Reeve and husband, Mark of Mountain Home, son, James Warren Henderson and wife, Mary Lou of Childress, and son, William Russell and wife, Becky of Ingram. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Billy Fannin and wife June of Reno, Nevada, sisters-in-law, Evedee Davis of New Braunfels and Jerry Henderson of Ingram, and grandchildren, Melissa Henderson, Travis and Charlie Reeve, Hayley Henderson-Frankson, Mary Katherine Henderson, Brian Henderson, Jamie McClintock and Jordan Henderson, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with the Reverend Mel Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Mountain Home.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Travis Reeve, Brian Henderson, Charlie Reeve, Dee McClintock, Matt Frankson, Blake Reeve, and Bob Reeves.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to the Sunrise Baptist Church, 1200 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028, Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028, or a charity of choice.\r\n \r\nThe family would like to thank Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Wright, Dr. Melcher, Dr. Boone, Dr. Moblad, South Texas Cardiologists and Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n
