\r\n Walter Herbert Wahrmund, more affectionately known as "Opa", went peacefully to be with his heavenly Father and loved ones on Friday, November 25, 2016, at his son's home at the age of 90 surrounded by family. \r\n\r\nWalter was born in Harper, Texas on December 26, 1925, to Hilmer and Amalia Wahrmund. He was one of five children. \r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his loving wife Glorie Edna Jenschke Wahrmund, his parents, and all his brothers and sisters. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his two children and their spouses, Diane and Joe David Richards and David and Toni Wahrmund. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. \r\n\r\n Walter lived off of Tivydale Road in Harper, Texas until he married Glorie Jenschke on May 2, 1950. They moved to Kerrville where he worked at the Peterson Texas Fleet. Later on, he went to work for Mooney Aircraft, where he worked until he retired in 1995. \r\n\r\nHe was a loving husband and father. Walter was a devoted member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. Some of Walter's favorite pass times were working on the land and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. He had a very sharp memory and loved to tell stories of his childhood and growing up. He also enjoyed hunting and making sausage with his family yearly. \r\n\r\nWalter was a very devout man. Even towards the end of his life, he continued to be an example of a man of God, praying the rosary daily and urging his family to continue to pray and deepen their faith after he passed. \r\n\r\n "Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace."\r\n\r\n Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Grimes Funeral Chapel. The Resurrection Mass will be at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 with Father David Wagner officiating. The burial will be held immediately following at Garden of Memories. \r\n\r\n In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Notre Dame Catholic School, Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School, or Ave Maria Hospice.\r\n\r\n The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to his many doctors and Ave Maria Hospice for their compassionate and loving care. \r\n\r\n Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n
