Walter Edward Stricker, 68, of Pipe Creek, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was born in San Antonio, TX to Adolph Julius Sricker and Harriet Inez Buck on March 19, 1947. He married Virginia Mazurek on June 7, 1969 in Bandera, TX at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. \r\n\r\nHe attended school in Bandera while taking care of the family ranch and welding shop. Walter served in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where his wife and first son joined him. By the end of his term in Germany, Walter had achieved a rank of E6. Upon returning from the service, Walter made his home in Bandera with his wife and went on to become a carpenter, welder, water well driller, and a rancher. He never met a stranger and loved to tell his stories - wild and true. All those that knew him knew of his one-of-a-kind storytelling. \r\n\r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Harriett, and 4 siblings, Annie Katherine Ellis (Randy), Preston Mathias (infant), Alice Mae (infant), and Linden Rhea. \r\n\r\nWalter is survived by his wife Virginia, 4 children, Walter Jr., Linden Rhea, Brandon, and Jennifer, 9 siblings, Adolph Julius, Jr. (Tara), Rose Mary Parker, Harriet Inez Timmons (Bruce), Laura Jane Pichot (Dennis, deceased), Willie Lee (Billie), Deborah Fay Sutton (James), Janet Gaye Evans (Mike), Lou Ellen Varner (Donald) and Charles Howard and one grandson Jason Stricker. \r\n\r\nA memorial gathering for Walter will be held on Sunday, January 17th, 3-5 PM at the Pipe Creek Community Center. \r\n\r\n
