Pastor Walter Delano Day Pastor Walter Delano Day went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born in Cuero on September 9, 1936. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, John W. III and Sallie May; his brother, John W. IV; and daughter, Debbie.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; brother, Cecil; sister-in-law, Nancy; his sons, Lawrence Delano Day and his wife Christy, Clinton Del Day and his wife Shannon, and Ben David Day and his wife Denise; daughter, Carrie Lee Brockway and her husband James; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. \r\n \r\nHe served in the military during the Korean War, was enlisted from 1954 through 1956, and in the Army Reserve until 1962. \r\n \r\nDuring his life, he worked as a roofer and a mechanic. In 1970, he followed his calling and became an ordained minister and started numerous churches in east and central Texas. Twenty-five years ago, he started the Victory Baptist Church in Kerrville and preached until the time of his illness. He spent his time ministering and caring for the elder church parishioners.\r\n \r\nViewing will be from 3 PM-8 PM, Friday, December 15, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be at 2 PM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church.\r\n
