Virginia Thomas

Virginia A. Thomas, age 73, of Kerrville passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2015.\r\n\r\nVirginia was born August 16, 1941 in Kerrville to George and Alma Ruff. She grew up in Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, George Thomas, on September 16, 1967.\r\n\r\nVirginia worked for the Kerrville State Hospital and Hill Country MHMR for 32 years. She retired in 1995 and she and George began to pursue their dream of traveling. She was blessed to be able to travel full time for 20 years and see 46 states. Her fondest memory was a cruise to Alaska with her husband, children and grandchildren.\r\n \r\nVirginia was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Alma Ruff. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband George Thomas of Kerrville; daughter, Melissa Ris and husband Lester of Kerrville; son, Paul Thomas and wife Cathleen of Boerne; brother, William Ruff and wife Hazel of Fredericksburg and nephew Billy Ruff and family.\r\n\r\nVirginia was a grandmother to four grandchildren who will miss her dearly; granddaughter Megan Ris and grandsons Sebastian, Daniel and Michael Thomas. Others who were dear to her heart include lifelong friends Evelyn Dutton, Linda Smith and many other friends and family members.\r\nServices will be at 1PM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Southern Oaks Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Taylor and Rev. Bill Moseley officiating.\r\n\r\nThe family requests memorials be made to Peterson Hospice or a charity of one's choice.\r\n\r\nFuneral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville. \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n
