Vincent Gilman, aged 60, passed away on September 23, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on June 14, 1964, Vincent led a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a great love for his Savior, family, and friends.
Vince dedicated six years to serving his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1985 to 1991, including a subsequent two additional years inactive; with an honorable discharge in 1993. While there, he trained as a diesel mechanic. His time in the military was marked by a profound dedication to duty and country, a testament to his generous and caring nature.
Vince was a graduate of Kellogg High School. Throughout his life, he was known for being generous and always willing to go above and beyond to assist others in any way he could.
He was known in his community as a thoughtful, kind, and caring individual, always ready to lend a hand. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was always ready for the season's first day.
Most importantly however, he was a believer and claimed the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He recognized that we all are flawed, and because of our sin, we are in need of saving. He trusted that Jesus is the Son of God, and that he died for our sins. He prayed and asked the Lord to forgive him of those sins and save him and to take him into His kingdom upon Vince's death. For this reason, his family is greatly comforted; knowing that Vince is with his Savior.
He is survived by his spouse, Lisa Gilman; daughter, Gwendalyn Barron; son, Travis Gilman; mother, Donna Gilman; siblings, Mitchel Gilman, Marie Sverdsten, and Shawn Gilman. Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Gilman. A graveside service will be held for immediate family members, honoring his wishes for a private farewell. Vincent's legacy of generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel.
