Vernon Ray Tye of Bandera, TX, passed away on August 18, 2024, in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, to Virgil and Verba Tye on February 7, 1941. He married Lorena Brown on May 25, 1960, in Carrizo Springs, TX.
Vernon attended high school in Fort Stockton, TX. He earned his GED and completed one year of college through the U.S. Army, where he served as a veteran. For over 50 years, he worked as an electrician, primarily in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas, with his work taking him as far as Montana and Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Tye Sr.; mother, Verba Tye; brothers, Virgil Tye Jr. and Valgene Tye; and sister, Velmoise Ferris.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Lorena Tye; daughter, Cheryl Tye; granddaughter, Cyneen Santoya; and great-granddaughter, Rowan Santoya.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on August 30th at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Chris from First Baptist Church Bandera officiating.
