TROY C. SMITH
\r\nTroy C. Smith, 91, of Mountain Home, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Ingram, Texas, to Joe W. Smith and Delilah Roe Smith at their ranch house on Dry Branch on May 11, 1924. He married Barbara Brown on September 11, 1943, in Warrington, England.\r\n\r\nHis first eight years of school were spent at the White School (Ingram, Texas), and the Hunt School (Hunt, Texas); he then attended and graduated from Tivy High School, Kerrville, Texas. For more than 60 years of his life, Troy ranched at his place on Dry Branch. Accomplished in construction and maintenance, he also worked for the Kerrville State Hospital for over 30 years, retiring as Director Auxillary Services. Troy was a veteran of WWII, having served in the 6th Marine Division. Sunset Baptist Church in Mountain Home was his childhood place of worship, where at age 17 he made a profession of Christian faith and became a member. He served in various ministries there, including Deacon and Treasurer.\r\n\r\nTroy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years, Barbara, and a granddaughter, Lisanne Smith Foster.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his son, Joe Dwayne Smith and wife, Connie, of Mountain Home, Texas, daughters, Cynthia Arnold and husband, Tony, of Ingram, Texas, and Beverly Smith of Vero Beach, Florida, sisters, Betty Joe Sibson and Carol Ann Meyners, both of Mountain Home, Texas, two grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, four great-granddaughters, four nephews, three nieces, numerous great-nephews and great-nieces, longtime dear friend, Chris Hutchinson of Kerrville, Texas, as well as many friends in Kerr County.\r\n\r\nAlthough a recipient of numerous awards during his lifetime, the only one Troy would have wanted known is the one he received on Memorial Day when he heard His Savior say: "well done."\r\n\r\nA visitation will be held on Friday evening, May 29, 2015, at Grimes Funeral Chapel, Kerrville, Texas, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Sunset Baptist Church, Mountain Home, Texas, with Bro. Joe Dwayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Mountain Home, Texas.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be: Tony Arnold, Stuart LoPresti, Nick LoPresti, Joel Meyners, John Meyners, and Mark Michon. Honorary pallbearer is Gary Michon.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Sunset Cemetery Association or Sunset Baptist Church (both P. O.
