Tom Blanks, age 82 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015. He was born to the parentage to Milton Lester (Honey) and Irene Benson Blanks, on April 18, 1933, in Kerrville, (Kerr County), Texas. Tom was the eldest and only male of three children born to that family.\r\n \r\nTom was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and participant in Sunday School. He was faithful in attendance and ever ready to participate in church activities.\r\n \r\nHe worked at the Blue Bonnet Hotel, The Famous Door, and any other place that pertained to cooking. Tom loved to cook. He always helped with the Doyle Exes barbecues. His specialty was cooking and cleaning houses for others. He was the driver to San Antonio on many occasions for the Bratchers. He also cooked at the area camps for hunters. He loved to play Dominoes.\r\n \r\nTom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Washington and Tillie Butler; Aunts,\r\nFlorine Blanks Clay, Lydia Carrington and Bessie Fifer; Uncles, Johnny, Herman and Sandy Benson.\r\n \r\nHe leaves to cherish his memory: Cousins, Charlie Jr. and Bearlline Payne, Clarence Benson, of Kerrville, Johnny Jefferson(Thelma) of Flint, Michigan, Gloria Walker (Charles), James Blanks of San Antonio, Louis Washington of Las Vegas, Nevada and Elke Washington of Reno, Nevada. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.\r\n \r\nServices will be held Friday, November 20, 2015, 11 AM at Mount Olive Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Noah Diggs. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories North Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be Mark Shaw, Mike Green, Todd Hardee, Ruben Exum, Norman Hayes, Dennis Lewis, Clifton Fifer and Savon Davis.
