Todd Corbitt

April 3, 1960 — December 17, 2015

Todd Robert Corbitt, 55, passed away on December 17, 2015 at his home of 15 years in Lakehills, TX. He was born April 3, 1960 in Grand Junction, CO., to Tom and Karma Ezell Corbitt Bogdan.\r\n\r\nTodd and his mother moved to Lakehills in the late 1970's, where he attended Bandera High School and cared for the horses at the Flying L Resort while his mother worked as secretary for the late Mr. Morgan. They later moved to Irving, TX. where he attended and graduated from Nimitz High School in 1978. After graduating, Todd enrolled in a trade school for welding and graduated at the top of his class. He worked as a floor hand in the Texas oil fields for a while and then was accepted to the Union for plumbers/pipefitters in Dallas. During those years Todd married Denise Johnson and they had two beautiful daughters, Breanna Danae and Cassidi Courtney. They later divorced and Todd fathered twin boys, Todd Robert Jr. and Robert Christopher. Although he didn't see his children as often as he wished he was proud of them and proud to be their dad. He loved them with all his heart. Todd enjoyed the outdoors, seeing a beautiful sunset, taking walks in the rain, swimming in a lake or river, but mostly he loved to build a huge bonfire and sit watching the flames late into the night. These special times were spent with his love, Rita. Todd had a kind soul and truly loved all animals and his fellow man. \r\nHe was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and he never complained or gossiped. \r\n\r\nTodd was preceded in death by his step-father, Albert Bogdan; mother and best friend, Karma Bogdan. His greatest heartache was when she was no longer here to talk to.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Rita Peterson of Lakehills; daughters, Breanna Corbitt of Dallas, TX., Cassidi Corbitt and Houston Fisher of Cleburne; sons, Todd Corbitt and Bobby Corbitt of Gozales; brother, Ron Corbitt and wife, Jill of Idaho; step-sisters, Barbara Bogdan Marshall of Mass., Terri Bogdan Pennell and husband Neil of Alabama, Sandi Sears Corbitt of Nebraska; step-brother, Eric Bogdan of Houston. Also surviving are father, Tom Corbitt and wife Dee of Ohio. Todd is survived by one beautiful granddaughter, Addyson Ellen Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.\r\n\r\nTodd remained in contact with life long friends, Jack and Brenda Lynch, Scott Brittain, Dave and Karen Sundae, Richard Lara, Chris Lansford, Don Shippy and Dee Kuhlman. These and so many more will remember Todd for his wild and crazy sense of humor and sometimes dangerous, adventurous stunts. He usually was the "life of the party" and kept the laughter and spirits going.\r\n\r\nOther special family members who were held close in Todd's heart are Cindy, Mikaela and Luke Tschirhart, Tige Bucchino, Ruby, Sandy Ollis and Randall Oliver, and preceding Todd's death, Jimmy Oliver. One last special friend, Denise Johnson. Todd left behind two loving dogs who he called "the kids", Georgia Girl and Mr. Breeze. His favorite weiner dog and pal was PeeWee, who probably greeted Todd on his journey.\r\n\r\nTodd's tragic death should be a reminder to us all that anxiety, depression and pain are real. If you know someone who is suffering please reach out to them, if only with a phone call to say "thinking of you". That is what Todd did, he loved us all. Until we meet again, fly high our freebird, fly high.\r\n\r\nA private viewing was held on December 21, 2015 in Kerrville at Grimes Funeral Chapels and a Celebration of Life Memorial will be announced at a later date.\r\n\r\nA loving Thank You to everyone for their prayers and comforting acts of kindness during this most difficult and sad time. Thank You to Bandera County for their prompt and professional response and to Grimes Funeral Chapels, who took such special care of our loved one. God Bless You All.
