Thomas Lane Northington, 67, of Kerrville, died September 26 in Houston, Texas after a long illness. He was born on July 11, 1949 in Wharton, Texas to Dr. Harold McCann and Nina Lee Lane Northington. He married Kathy Brigman on August 12, 1972 in Boulder, Colorado.\r\n\r\nTom attended the University of Texas in Austin and Southwestern University in Georgetown where he graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta.\r\n\r\nTom had a passion for the outdoors and hunting and was a master gunsmith. He made many friends while owner of Tejas Hunting Supplies in Ingram. But his real calling was to serve the elderly and their families. He was certified as a nursing home administrator by St. Phillip's College. He was an administrator for 25 years, first at Edgewater in Kerrville and then at Windcrest in Fredericksburg.\r\n\r\nHe was a member of the Texas Health Care Association, Ducks Unlimited, and an Ambassador for the Kerrville Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member of Kerrville Bible Church where he served as an Elder during the early years. He counted it a privilege to serve as Substitute Teaching Leader and a Group Leader in Bible Study Fellowship.\r\n\r\nTom was preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Harold and his sister, Gay Connelly. Tom is survived by his wife Kathy, his son David, his brothers and sister, and his brothers-and sisters-in-law: Mac and Carla Northington of Boerne; Ginger and Burt Hooton of San Antonio; Guy and Cindy Northington of Houston; Mike and Nancy Connelly of Houston; Sara Brigman of San Antonio; Fred and Jane Brigman of San Angelo; and many beloved nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nPlease join the family in thanking God for Tom's life at his funeral, Friday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m., Kerrville Bible Church, 898 Harper Road, Kerrville, Texas. Few realized the depth of his suffering because of his constant, smiling concern for others. Tom would be the first to say that his joy came from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whose presence he now lives.
