Thomas Leonard Hardee Jr., age 83 of Kerrville, Texas passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was born in Clark County, Mississippi to parents Thomas Leonard Hardee and Minnie Esther Clay Hardee. He graduated cum laude from Millsap College in Jackson, Mississippi. He then graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana with his medical degree. He interned at The University of Mississippi Hospital in Jackson. Later, he did his residency in Psychiatry at Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino, California. He came to work at Kerrville State Hospital in 1971 as a Clinical Psychiatrist and became the Medical Director there for 27 years. He went into retirement from the state and continued to work at the V.A. Hospital for 5 more years before he retired to spend more time with his family.\r\n \r\nThomas is survived by his two sisters, Anita Hardee May of Florence, Mississippi and Mary Hardee Lee of Bakersfield, California and their families. Thomas is also survived by wife, Ann Evans Hardee and their 4 children, James Hardee and his spouse Mary Hardee, Thomas Hardee, Joe Hardee and his spouse Leslie, and Millicent Hardee. He has his surviving grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth, Rebekah Clair, Jacob Connor, Philip, Sheena and Randice. He also had many friends who became part of his family namely the Kaisers, Lackeys, Fischers and Dave Sweeney of Kerrville.\r\n \r\nThomas was a wonderful husband and father who was noted to say when asked about his first meeting of his precious Ann saying, "She was the prettiest thing I ever saw." Thomas adored his 4 wonderful children who gave him so much joy. He described his 4 children recently as this, "James, my eldest son, is outgoing; Thomas is quiet and sincere; Joe is quiet and he grew up to be a military guy; and Millicent (Millie), my youngest, was my little doll."\r\n \r\nHe will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community for his vast accomplishments, generous heart, and compassion for his patients and those who knew him. \r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015, 10 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Dr. Thomas Hardee to the Alzheimer's Association of San Antonio.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n
