Thomas Brown

May 2, 1955 — January 12, 2021

Thomas Lee Brown (Tómas), 65, of Ingram, TX went to be with the Lord January 12, 2021. \r\n\r\nHe was born May 2, 1955 in Robstown, TX, the son of late Mary Lou Rodriguez and Sammy Elwood Brown. He was 4th born of seven siblings. On January 29, 1985 he married Joanna Dee Brown in Irving, TX to whom he celebrated over 35 years in marriage. \r\n\r\nAt age 11 Thomas was an apprentice chef to Ari Varoutsos at Ari's Grenouille French Cuisine. He had a passion for cooking and loved taking charge in the kitchen. At 40 he opened his very own restaurant Tómas' Southwest Cafe where he continued his passion for cooking. He loved not only cooking but sharing his knowledge of the art with others.\r\n\r\nHe came to know Christ at 32 during a revival at First Baptist Church of Alief and from that point forward he made it a point to serve the Lord. Whether he was an Usher, a Deacon, or served on Mission trips he loved to help others come to know Christ. He translated on Mexico Mission trips for 18 years with his other parents late Conrad Pyle and Theresia Pyle, who survives. He continued to translate between the Trinity Baptist Church and Brother Paulino's orphanage in Piedras Negras, Mexico. \r\n\r\nThomas was by far the most selfless Father, husband, and friend to anyone that knew him and even to those that didn't. Thomas was the kind of man that would drop everything in an instant to help or care for others. He lead by example always ensuring his family was taken care of as far back as the time he left home at age 11. Sending his family support and groceries to ensure his siblings were cared for. Truly a selfless and honorable man. There were countless moments he cooked for birthday parties and was an absolute comedian. He cared dearly for his family and kept them as a top priority throughout his life. He had a smile that could light up a room and left earth with that same smile. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife Joanna Brown; his mom Theresia Pyle; his children Lisa, Derek, and Mitchell Brown and Alyssa Barbo; grandchildren; Richard, Athena, and Anicia Rodriguez, Cristian and Ashley Aviles, Michelle and Kendall Brown, Arianna and Arissa Barbo; great grandchildren Alena Estrada, Annalea Aviles, and Arist Kelemete; his siblings Robert, Ronald, Olivia, Carlos, and Mona Brown.\r\n\r\nThomas was preceded in death by his sister Theresa Brown. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. \r\n\r\nMemorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his favorite place to serve at: Blessed to Bless, Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028.\r\n\r\nHe had a smile that could light up a room and left earth with that same smile. \r\n\r\n
