Tay Spencer, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Comfort, Texas. She was born Ann Matilda Seaman October 17, 1927 in Mineola, Long Island, New York to Frederick and Eda Seaman. Tay grew up in Roslyn, Long Island, New York with her three older brothers. Her family continued in the ship building business that their ancestors started after they came from England in the early 1600's. She attended The George School a preparatory school in Pennsylvania. Tay maintained close friendships with her classmates over the years. In 1947, she married Paul Letz of Comfort, Texas after they met at Parson School of Art in New York, New York. They had three children Derek, Paula and Jonathan.\r\n \r\nTay spent most of her life living in Houston, San Antonio and Florida. She loved spending time at the beach and walking along the seashore. She was an accomplished artist. While living in Houston she got her real estate license. In later years she managed retirement facilities and spent countless hours volunteering her time helping the elderly, the community and families that were affected by Alzheimer's.\r\n \r\nShe moved to Comfort in 2009 to be closer to her children and grand-children and lived on the family ranch. She quickly became active with the Golden Age Center in Comfort where she went daily. Tay volunteered her time helping with the Meals on Wheels program. She also loved watching the wildlife and other ranch activities on the family ranch.\r\n \r\nShe was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers John Seaman, Fred Seaman and sister-in-law Carol Seaman, Bert Seaman and Son Derek Letz. She is survived by her daughter Paula Letz Russ and husband Freddie of Comfort and her son Jonathan Letz and wife Karen of Comfort; sister-in law Breta Seaman of Massachusetts; five grandchildren Chris Russ and wife Megan of Kerrville, Ryan Russ and wife Tracey of Austin, Trey Russ and wife Emily of Camp Verde, Sam Letz and Gus Letz of Comfort; Six great-grandchildren Riley, Riggs and Rowan Russ; Braylan Russ; Will and Greyson Russ. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers please make donations to The Golden Age Center in Comfort, Gentiva Hospice in Kerrville or The Alzheimer's Association.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
