Steven McKee, age 68 of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 in a local hospital. He was born July 13, 1948 in San Angelo to Sam Wesley McKee and Willie Mae (Pendley) McKee. He grew up on a sheep and cattle ranch in west Texas.\r\n \r\nSteve graduated from Lakeview High School and from Angelo State University in 1970. He went into nursing school and became an RN. \r\n \r\nSteve was a hospice nurse for 20 years for the same hospice. He was responsible to get the hospital and hospice to buy animals at the stock show. He was active in the Hunt 4-H and received Volunteer of the Year from Kerr County 4-H.\r\n \r\nHe loved his wife and son so much. He was witty and loved to tell a joke. He was a member of Open Arms Ministry.\r\n \r\nSurvivors include wife, Carolyn McKee of Kerrville; son, Sam McKee of Kerrville; sisters, Jewel Cornelius of San Angelo and Constance Sheldon; nephews, Wayne Cornelius, Clifton Creech and Wes Hayes; nieces, Rita Jo Hayes and Carolyn Creech.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Thomas Jeffers. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Cliff Creech, Wayne Cornelius, Wes Hayes, Casey Goodman, Ryan Moss, Jesse Garza, Paul Huchton, Shawn Land and Jacob Land. Richard Walden and Johnny Grimes will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.\r\n
