Maria de Socorro Medina Ortega, 77, of Bandera, Texas passed away on March 7, 2020 in Bandera County, Texas. She was born in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico to Ignacio and Martina Medina on January 18, 1943. \r\n\r\nSocorro was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her children describe her as a hero and faithful supporter. She was a warrior for her family and was always ready to help them day or night. She loved cooking, traveling to the coast and gardening.\r\n\r\nSocorro is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Teodoro Ortega.\r\n\r\nSocorro is survived by daughter Rosie Castillo and her husband Jose, son Teodoro Ortega Jr. and his wife Evangelina, daughter Isabelle Perez and her husband Joel, son Jose Ortega and his wife Juanita, son Gustavo Ortega and his wife Kimberly, daughter Maria Rodriguez and her husband Eddie, daughter Alma Fernandez and her husband Marcos, daughter Elisabet Martinez and her husband Tomas. Socorro is also survived by 3 brothers, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, Texas.\r\n\r\nService will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, Texas.
