We honor and celebrate the life of Shirley Ann Trudeau, 85, of Bandera, passed away on April 1, 2023, with family present at her side, in her family home. Shirley was born in Mitchellville, Maryland to a William L. Beall Sr. and Edith M. Simpson on April 2, 1937. Shirley was one of nine siblings who were raised on the family Tobacco Farm. She went to school in Prince George’s County, Maryland, graduating from Frederick Sasser High School. She would later meet and marry the love of her life Raoul Leo Trudeau Jr., Leo, on June 1, 1957 in Great Mills Maryland.
Through most of her adult life, she was a devoted mother who traveled many miles throughout the United States on the back of a Honda motorcycle with both her husband Leo and daughter Debbie. Shirley’s love for traveling would continue even after the passing of her husband. She would make it to almost every state in the United States, except for Alaska, and also make it to one of her bucket list destinations of Canada’s Niagara Falls. After the birth of her grandchildren Shirley moved to Texas to be closer to her family. She then began working in landscaping as well as several local dude ranches throughout Bandera County(Flying L, Running R, and Dixie Dude). Shirley’s ability to transform and maintain various plants was truly a gift that few possessed.
Shirley is preceded in death and met in heaven by her parents, brothers, sisters, and her husband Leo.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Debbie (Bryan) Williams of Bandera, TX and grandchildren: Brandon (Peter) Trudeau of Toronto, Canada, Samantha Williams of Bandera, TX, and Cody Williams of San Antonio, TX.
A private funeral service will be held on April 12, 2023, at the Fort Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. Shirley will be buried and reunited with her husband, Leo. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s daughter requests live plants so that she may continue to honor her mother’s passion for those.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Peterson Hospice, Family Practice Associates, and care-taker JoAnn.
