Shirley Hatcher

Shirley O'Mara Hatcher, age 95 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at her residence. She was born January 2, 1921 in Shreveport, Louisiana to John Dan O'Mara and Ora Beatrice (Bryant) O'Mara. \r\n \r\nShirley was a longtime Air Force wife. She loved traveling and settled in Texas in the early 1970's. When her youngest son finished high school, Shirley went to nursing school and completed the program to become an LVN. She worked until she was 70 at the State Hospital. Even after retirement, Shirley volunteered at the State Hospital until her health failed.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by daughters, Ellen Hatcher of Paris, France and Etoile Jessup (Jerry) of Medina; sons, John Hatcher (Sue) of Clifton, Virginia and Jim Hatcher (Sheri) of Ft. Stockton, Texas; sister, Shannon Paola of Gulfport, Mississippi; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held privately.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.\r\n
