Sharon Compton

February 15, 1944 — October 17, 2017

Sharon Elizabeth Compton, age 73, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 17, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born February 15, 1944 in San Saba, Texas to Sherman and Vivian Russell. She married the love of her life, W.D. Compton, February 25, 1967 who preceded her in death in 2009.\r\n \r\nW.D. and Sharon ran Compton's of Kerrville, a successful air conditioning and electrical contracting company for 50+ years. \r\n \r\nSharon enjoyed cooking, sewing, swimming, but most of all she enjoyed time with her family. She also loved to make little teddy bears and glue jewelry on them to give to her friends and family. One of her favorite things to do was sit outside and swing with her great grandbabies singing "Just a Swinging." Her three great-grandbabies were her world; she called them "her angels" and that they were. Sometimes she would sneak them into her room at night just to cuddle with them. She would have slept with all three of them every night if she could have. When she wasn't spending time with her family she enjoyed the slot machine and going to the horse races in Fredericksburg with her best friend Jeannie. \r\n \r\nSharon was very involved in the community and spent much of her time volunteering at nursing homes, sharing her love with so many. Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church of Kerrville and also enjoyed volunteering at numerous community functioned offices including Republican Women, Kerr County Fair Association, RSESA and Kerrville Citizens Police Academy. \r\n \r\nShe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sharon touched the lives of so many and will be dearly missed. Her life was a living example of the bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." \r\n \r\nSharon is survived by her children: her son, Sherman Compton and wife Marla; her daughter, Pam Guzardo and husband Brett; grandchildren, Tyler Cahela and wife Kirstie, and Reagan Cahela; and great-grandchildren, Haliah, Adalynn, and Andrew Cahela. All of these she loved and touched deeply.\r\n \r\nPlease join us celebrating her life Saturday afternoon October 21, 2017 at 2:00p.m. at First Baptist Church, 625 Washington Street in Kerrville. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Friday, October 20th from 5p.m. - 7p.m. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's research at www.act.alz.org. \r\n \r\nThe family asks that you spend time with your children, friends, family and loved ones. That's what Sharon would wish. \r\n
