Shari Glee (Cheesman) (Puckett) Whitacre: June 8, 1940 - April 28, 2019, was born in Lafayette, Indiana, the eldest of 5, and was raised there, until the early fifties when her family moved to Rochester, Indiana. She later married Elias Earl Puckett, became a mother of 6, and worked as a seamstress in Rochester for a number of years, while she and Earl raised their family. She faithfully attended Grace United Methodist Church, and was active with the Ladies Auxillary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. \r\n\r\nAfter Earl passed in 2006, Shari later met John Whitacre, and in 2010, they were married in Bandera County, Texas, where they made their home. There, Shari became a member of the Bandera United Methodist Church, and joined the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post 157. She played an active role in both places, and befriended many who loved her. \r\n\r\nShari is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Elias Earl Puckett; father, George "Wes" Cheesman; mother, Chloris Cheesman; sister, Judy (Cheesman) Green; and brother, James Cheesman.\r\n\r\nShari is survived by her husband, John Whitacre; sister, Nita Baker; brother, Larry Cheesman; her children: eldest daughter, Tami Becker; son, Tom Puckett and wife, Tracey; son, Jeff Puckett and wife, Ginger; daughter, Julie White; son, Jon Puckett and wife, Angie; and son, Jason Puckett and wife, DeeDee. Shari is also survived by her step-children, Jonna Wilson; Sheila Flen and husband Mike; John C. Whitacre; and Samuel Whitacre.\r\n\r\nShe is also survived and adored by 18 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA Memorial Service for Shari will be held in Bandera, Texas, at American Legion Post #157 located at 205 12th St., Bandera, TX 78003, on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2019, at 3pm. All those wishing to attend are invited.\r\n\r\nA Memorial Service will be held in Rochester, IN, where her final resting place shall be, specific date to be announced at a later time. \r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank the community for their kind and loving support.\r\n\r\n
