Scott Mosty

Scott Mosty, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the company of his family. \r\n\r\nScott N. Mosty graduated from Texas A &M in January 1965 with a degree in Industrial Technology.\r\n\r\nHe entered the United States Army in March of 1965 and graduated from helicopter flight school in February of 1966. After graduation, he served in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Division Airmobile as a helicopter pilot.\r\n\r\nAs a section chief, Scott piloted his section in to dangerous battle zones of Vietnam to transport soldiers to and from the battlefield to receive medical attention. He was awarded The Air Medal and The Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) for his service in Vietnam.\r\n\r\nAfter Vietnam, he was transferred to Fort Walters as an instructor pilot for helicopter training for future soldiers. While at flight school he received a Certificate of Achievement in the performance of over 500 accident-free instructor flight hours.\r\n\r\nAfter his military service, Scott returned to his childhood roots to work with his father and uncles in the management of Mosty Brothers Nursery which had been established in 1897 by his great-grandfather and grandfather. In due course, he became the fourth-generation owner of Mosty Brothers Nursery and in retirement turned the nursery over to the fifth-generation, his daughter Erin and her husband Bryan Wofford.\r\n\r\nScott is survived by his children, Mark Mosty and Erin Mosty Wofford and her husband Bryan. He leaves three grandchildren, Beck Wofford, Keane Wofford and Camryn Mosty.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Essie Mosty, and brother-in-law, Roberto Yzaguirre. He is also survived by his sister, Fran Yzaguirre, and brothers, John and Richard (Betty) Mosty and many nieces, nephews and cousins. \r\n\r\nA memorial service for Scott will be held at Mosty Brothers Nursery at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018.\r\n\r\n
