Sara Vlasek

November 23, 1959 — March 26, 2017

Sara Ellen Vlasek, 57, of Hunt, Texas, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017. Sara succumbed after a valiant battle with cancer, and is now at peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father. \r\n \r\nSara was born in Fredericksburg, Texas in the Keidel Memorial Hospital on November 23, 1959 to Sherry Huber and Louis Vlasek. \r\n \r\nShe grew up in the Hill Country, experiencing a childhood full of the pleasures of the Texas outdoors. \r\n \r\nSara's life was a shining example of serving others. After the birth of her three beloved children, she put herself through school, eventually becoming a special education teacher. Her career spanned many years of teaching in Junction, Kerrville, and Ingram, Texas where she poured her heart into bettering and improving the lives of her special needs students. Sara was known for her willingness to go that extra mile for each of her students; for believing in the best of each individual; for challenging, encouraging, and inspiring her students, as well as those fortunate enough to work with her. So many individuals have been enriched and bettered because of the influence of this special woman. \r\n \r\nBut Sara's influence was felt by many others, as well. Her large extended family looked to her as a stalwart of wisdom and love - someone they could depend upon no matter what. She was loved by many friends who were the recipient of her warm and loving ways, who shared her joy for life and adventure, and who treasured her sweet and generous ways. \r\n \r\nSara had a zest for life that radiated from her beautiful blue eyes. She loved experiencing the outdoors in many forms and fashions. Whether it was time spent on a Texas beach or riding horseback over the rugged West Texas expanse, she found exuberance and joy in God's creation. \r\n \r\nSara's greatest love, however, was found with her family. Her three children - Casey, Courtney, and Caroline, and her three grandchildren - Cullen, Stella, and Calder - were truly the delight of her heart. She took incredible pride and pleasure in her children and grandchildren, and saw each of them as perhaps her greatest accomplishment. Anyone who knew Sara knew the fierce love and joy she felt for them. Sara's belief, profound love, and support for/in each of them is a lifetime testament of devotion of the purest form. \r\n \r\nSara leaves behind son, Casey Garrison and his wife Chaunci, along with their two sons, Cullen and Calder; her daughter, Courtney Garrison, along with her daughter, Stella Louise; and daughter, Caroline Betsill. She is also survived by her parents, Sherry Huber Geyer and Louis "Bubba" Vlasek; sister, Cynthia Vlasek and brother, Michael Vlasek, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly. Sara also leaves behind a vast number of friends who will sorely miss her warmth and friendship. \r\n \r\nServices will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at First United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Logan Talamas.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Kerrville Special Opportunity Center.\r\n
