Sara Goodwin

Sara Ellen Pace Goodwin passed from this life on October 24, 2017. She was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas January 12, 1944 to John Lewis Pace and Lottie Ethel Ferguson Pace.\r\n \r\nShe had five older brothers, William, John, Charles, Hal and Robert Pace. All of them have passed except Robert. Her brothers gave Sara the nickname "Sissy" when she was very young. And it stayed with her all her life.\r\n \r\nAfter graduation from high school she married Roland C. Crawford and helped him raise two step sons, Gordon and Gary along with her daughter, Debra Lynn.\r\n \r\nShe worked at Uvalde State Bank in Crystal City for many years. She then became Office Manager for Thompson ranches.\r\n \r\nAfter Roland passed in 1994 Sissy met Oscar Goodwin of Kerrville. They were married June 15, 2003. They had a happy marriage. They enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals and playing music together with their friends. Sissy loved the river around Carrizo Springs where she grew up. And she left many happy memories of her and Oscar fishing, dancing and entertaining friends on the river.\r\n \r\nShe was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009 and was placed in Edgewater Care Center in 2013 where her husband faithfully visited her until she passed. She was a member of the Baptist church in Uvalde.\r\n \r\nSara is survived by her husband, Oscar Goodwin, her daughter, Debra, four stepsons Gordon and Gary Crawford, Paul Goodwin of Vero Beach, Florida and Perry Goodwin of Houston, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Dr. Joe Taylor.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity.\r\n
