Our mother, Sally (Priddy) Aspra Marks, died on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2015, in Austin, Texas, after a long illness.\r\n\r\nThe only child of Oscar Truit Priddy and Margie Lee Hays, Sally was born in Arcadia, Florida, on May 23, 1933, and grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. After graduating from St. Petersburg High School and the Mound Park Hospital School of Nursing, Sally enjoyed a nursing career that lasted over 40 years.\r\n\r\nIn 1973, with a sense of the adventure and courage that were a hallmark of her life, Sally and her children moved to Kerrville, Texas, to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring as an R.N. after many years of service. She also spent a year with the Peace Corps in 1983, volunteering her nursing skills in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa.\r\n\r\nWe take comfort in knowing that our mother is finally resting in peace in the presence of God.\r\n\r\nSally is survived by her four children, John Aspra, of Santa Barbara, CA; Lee Anne Aspra, of Austin, Texas; Chris (Tia) Aspra, of Hunt, Texas, and Wes Aspra, of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her three precious grandchildren: Rachel (Joe) Phillips, of Killeen, Texas; Christopher "Bear" (Clara) Aspra, of Austin, Texas; and John Teal "JT" (Trissa) Aspra, of Bandera, Texas; and her first great-grand child, Ryder Christopher Aspra, of Austin, Texas.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Hunt United Methodist Church, 120 Merrit Road, Hunt, Texas 78024.
