Ruth Ann Harkness\r\n\r\nRuth Ann Harkness, 83, of Bandera, passed away on February 25, 2018 in Bandera. \r\nShe was born in Denver, Colorado to Adah Faye and Paul Harkness on September 19, 1934.\r\nShe married Robert Leroy Berling on June 19, 1954 in Lakewood, Colorado.\r\n\r\nShe graduated from Arvada High School May of 1952. She also took a secretarial training program from Larimer Co Vo-Tech, completing that May of 1980. She worked at the National Cattleman's Beef Association, Englewood, CO, from May 1983- October 1999. She worked as a parish administrator at Intercession Episcopal Church, Thorton, CO, from 1999-2004. She worked as a ministry leader at Saint Cuthbert Episcopal Church, Houston, TX, from 2004-2013. She was a member of Saint Christopher's Episcopal church, Bandera, TX, from 2013 to the present. \r\n\r\nDuring high school she was involved in the yearbook club as editor, Redskin Arrow staff, student council, pep club, Job's Daughters, and a 4H member. She won many awards showing cattle, sewing, cooking, and Jr leadership. Later at Saint Cuthberts, she loved to make prayer blankets with a ladies group there. \r\n\r\nRuth is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Lee Harkness and her nephew, Tim Harkness.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Debora Thompson and husband, Ronald; sons, Doug Berling, Gary Berling and wife, Quin; grandchildren, Mike and Carrie Thompson, Annie and Alex Simms, Audrey and Sam Anderson, Alison and Micah Christiansen, Ashley and Daniel Pete, Justin and Stephanie Berling; Great Grandchildren, 20 and one expected soon. \r\n\r\nA Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with Rev. Allan Conkling officiating.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Texas Oncology, San Antonio, to Home Instead Senior Care, Boerne, to River City Hospice, and to Bandera Nursing and Rehab. \r\n\r\nMemorial donations can be made at www.texasoncologyfoundation.org.
