November 13, 1916 — July 27, 2017

Ruth Lucille Hardy, a long time resident of Kerrville, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Hilltop Village Nursing Home at the age of 100.\r\n \r\nBorn in 1916 in San Antonio, Texas, Ruth graduated from Alamo Heights High School, then attended business school in San Antonio.\r\n \r\nIn 1937, Ruth met the love of her life, Otha B. Hardy Jr. who was attending Army Air Corps Flying School at Randolph AFB, and attending Law school at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. They were married in 1939 and began a 44 year adventure, living in Canada, France, Germany, seventeen different states, having four kids along the way and relocating 32 times.\r\n \r\nAfter her husband's death in 1982, she remained a widow for the rest of her life.\r\n \r\nRuth loved any excuse for a family get-together. Family reunions on the Frio River were her favorite, but she also loved Christmas, Thanksgiving and Super Bowl Parties, just as long as she had family around her she was happy.\r\n \r\nShe was a kind, thoughtful person and would help anyone in need. She also had a great sense of humor that her children seem to have inherited.\r\n \r\nShe was predeceased by her husband in 1982, and her youngest son, Daniel, in 1993.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by three children, Otha B. Hardy III, Carole A. McCarson, and Mark L. Hardy, as well as seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Glen Rest Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas conducted by Pastor David Payne of First United Methodist Church in Kerrville. \r\n \r\nMemorials may be sent in Ruth's name to any charity of your choice. \r\n \r\nThe Hardy family wishes to thank the staff of Grimes Funeral Chapels for their compassionate and professional conduct in the handling of Ruth's funeral.\r\n
