Russell Dean "Rusty" Salazar, age 39 of Ingram, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 in San Antonio. He was born July 21, 1979 in Sonora to Jesus and Tina (DeLeon) Salazar. \r\n\r\nRusty worked as an adult probation officer. He was strong, courageous, honest and had so much love in his heart, especially for his family. If you had the chance to know him, chances are he made your life better. He touched so many lives with his illuminating presence. He gave the world's biggest bear hugs that felt so kind and safe. They made you melt.\r\n\r\nWe will deeply miss this light of our lives, but we will never forget. Until we meet again, sweet man. We love you more than you'll ever know.\r\n\r\nRusty was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Felix and Edna DeLeon and Jesus and Andrea Salazar.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Peggy of Ingram; mother, Tina Salazar of Leakey; children, Katelynn Salazar and Bricen Salazar of Leakey, Kayo Setnan of Dallas, Gretchen Setnan of Austin and Garrett Setnan of Ingram; brother, Dr. Jesse Salazar and wife, Marta of Carrizo Springs; niece and nephew, Lauren and Jesse Ray; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. \r\n\r\nVisitation will be begin at 2 PM and services will follow at 3 PM, Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Frio Canyon Baptist Church in Leakey, officiated by Bro. Mark Spaniel.
