Ruby Jo Thomas best known as "Jo", 80, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on December 1, 2016 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born May 30, 1936 to Huey and Nan Wilkins.\r\n \r\nJo Thomas was a beloved mother and grandmother symbolizing elegance, class and grace. Not only a beautiful woman, she had a beautiful heart and gave generously of her time and creative talents always delivering homemade gifts to friends and neighbors. She was an extraordinary woman and touched deeply the lives of all who met her. Her life was her family and entertaining. Jo had a huge, passionate heart. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. \r\n \r\nJo Thomas was a ballroom dance instructor for many years in Shreveport, Louisiana and an active member of the Houston Racquet Club in Houston, Texas. She was an avid skeet shooter and bird hunter, winning many awards for her steady hand and precision. She traveled the world with her now deceased husband, Dr. Orville Cody Thomas in his medical profession. \r\n \r\nJo Thomas is preceded in death by parents Huey and Nan Wilkins, brothers Gerald and Buck Wilkins, and sister Ann Messina.\r\n \r\nJo Thomas is survived by her sister Lena Mae Lilly, son David and wife Leanna Thomas and her son Cullen Machalec, daughter Diane Garrett and husband Bud, son Cody Thomas, grandchildren David Thomas, Jr. and wife Natalie, Austin Thomas, Croft Thomas, and great grandchild Harper Jane Thomas. She is also survived by a sister-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\n \r\nThere will be a private family gathering in Kerrville, Texas to celebrate her life following which she will be moved to Bentley, Louisiana where graveside services will be held. Jo will be buried in a family plot with her parents and deceased brothers and sister.\r\n
