Roy J. King passed away December 25, 2016 in Kerrville, TX.\r\n\r\nHe was born April 15, 1928 in Santa Rosa, Texas to Anna and Sol King. The family moved to Corpus Christi about 1930 where Roy lived until 1986. He married his high school sweetheart, Rose Coonrod, on January 24, 1946. They raised tree sons while Roy attended and graduated from the university of Corpus Christi.\r\n\r\nRoy worked for the United States Postal Service for many years, retiring in 1972. He then managed the Corpus Christi Postal Employees Credit Union for fourteen years. In addition he was an accountant and an Enrolled Agent for the Internal Revenue Service.\r\n\r\nHe loved all children and was very active with the Cub Scouts and the Order of the Arrow. At the request of a lifelong friend for many years he over saw a week trip to Garner State Park for the altar boys of the Diocese of Corpus Christi. As a result of this, Bishop Rene H. Gracida asked him in 1986 to move to Bandera County to oversee construction of Camp Corpus Christi and remain as caretaker when it was completed. Roy and Rose spent ten fun years at the camp until it was sold.\r\n\r\nHe was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 10258 and the Hill Country Assembly 2465.\r\n\r\nTwo sons, James King and Ronald King, his parents, four sisters and tree brothers preceded him in death.\r\n\r\nRose, his wife of 71 years, his son, John and wife, Kay; daughter-in-law, Mindy King; three, grandchildren; three, great grandchildren; one, great-great granddaughter, survive him.\r\n\r\nA memorial rosary will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.\r\n\r\nA memorial mass will be held, Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:30 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of choice.\r\n\r\n
