Ronald Hofstad

Ronald Lowell Hofstad, 82 of Kerrville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Per his request, a private family memorial will be held and his ashes inurned at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.\r\n \r\nRon was happily married to Norma (Moechtar) Hofstad for more than 58 years. An accomplished athlete, Ron was drafted into the Army during his sophomore year of College in 1953. He met and married Norma while stationed in Germany in 1956 and together they raised four children. Ronald served his Country for 20 years in the artillery division, honorably discharged as a 1st Sergeant E-8 in 1973. During that time he served in the Vietnam War, and was awarded five Good Conduct Medals, two Letters of Commendation and a multitude of service connected plaques and medals.\r\n \r\nUpon retirement from the Military, Ronald and his family relocated to Austin, Texas where he worked for the USPS for 21 years. In 1995 Ron and Norma moved to Kerrville where he enjoyed the friendships he made in the community. An avid Minnesota Vikings fan, Ronald is best known for his phenomenal sense of humor and his love for God and Country.\r\n \r\nRonald was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his parents, Benjamin and Lillian Hofstad; and brothers, Russell and Merle Hofstad.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by daughters, Norma (Ken) Jost and Brenda (Buzzie) Hughes; sons, Ronald (Tamie) Hofstad and Kenneth (Catherine) Hofstad. Granddaughters, Megan (Jeremiah) Kester and Kaitlin Honeycutt, grandsons, Tad (Andrea) Honeycutt; Daniel and Michael Jost; Zachary, Collin and Garrett Hofstad; Tyler Hughes; six great-grandchildren, many nieces and a host of friends.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to The American Legion Post 208, "In Honor of Ronald L.
