Ronald Beecher

Ronald Ray Beecher of Kerrville, TX (formerly of Portland) passed away on November 20, 2015 after a long illness. Ron was born to Carroll and Leona Beecher on the Beecher homestead near Palco, Kansas on July 27, 1934. He was born in the heart of the Dust Bowl and his crib was covered with a wet sheet due to the dust. He was a 1952 graduate of the St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, KS. He served 11 years in the U.S. Marine Corps including tours of duty in the Korean War. In 1957, he married Patsy Riley in Corpus Christi, TX. To this union four sons were added. He worked for 25 years for the US Postal Service in Corpus. In 1966, the family moved to Portland, TX where resided until 1994, when they moved to Kerrville. He enjoyed watching his sons play ball at Gregory Portland HS.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bill; his sisters, Joyce and Angie. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Beecher; sons, Raymond Beecher (Michelle) of Argyle, TX, Michael Beecher (Lana) of Elgin, TX and John Beecher (Vivian) of Portland, TX; grandchildren, Tucker Copeland (Suzanne), Jennifer Caswell, Raymond Beecher, Amy Beecher, Riley Beecher, Will Beecher, and Miranda Beecher; siblings, Shirley, Verla, Jim, Larry, and Carolyn.\r\n \r\nThe family would like to thank the loving care provided to Ron during his illness by Dr. James Young, Chaplain Steve Doss and Peterson Hospice, especially Aaron, Allison, Paulette, Eloisa, Jennifer, Mia, Martha, Dana, Belinda and Esther.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice of Kerrville, TX, petersonhospice.com \r\n \r\nA private service will be held.\r\n
