Robert H. Shearhart, 59, of Medina, TX passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 in Medina.He was born in Colorado Springs, CO, to Jim and Patricia Shearhart on May 5, 1958. He married Julie Spencer on July 21, 1979 in Mound Valley, KS.\r\n\r\nCoach Shearhart attended elementary school in La Puenta, CA before moving with his family to Mound Valley, KS where he attended 6-12 grades. He graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont, KS in 1976. Following high school graduation, he attended Neosho County Community College on a basketball scholarship for one year, before transferring to Labette County Community College to play baseball. In 1983, he and his wife moved to Kerrville, TX where he later attended and graduated from Schreiner College in 1990 with his teaching degree in English and Exercise Science. He took his first teaching job at Bandera ISD, where he taught and coached for 27 years. While at Bandera ISD, he taught English and coached football, basketball and baseball. In 2008, Coach Shearhart received the "Inspirational Teacher of the Year" award from Texas A&M University.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by wife, Julie; children, Brad (Bella) Shearhart of Kerrville, Kelli Shearhart of Dallas, TX, Brice Shearhart of Corpus Christi, TX and Brent (Kayla) Shearhart of Ft. Bragg, NC; brothers, Bill (Cindy) Shearhart of Coffeyville, KS and Jimmy (Rhonda) Shearhart of South Coffeyville, OK; grandchildren, Adelyn Howard, Camille and Elliot Shearhart.\r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1 pm at Bandera High School.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bandera County Young Life, PO Box 1751, Bandera, TX 78003 bandera.younglife.org or Bandera Bulldog Athletic Booster Club, PO Box 3016, Bandera, TX 78003.\r\n\r\nThe family of Coach Shearhart wishes to thank our Bandera community for their love and support during his illness. \r\n
