Robert Marvin Porter, Jr., 88, of Kerrville, devoted husband of the late Elizabeth Ann (Seaman) Porter, died on September 25, 2014. He was born December 18, 1925 in Ponca City, OK, son of Robert Marvin Porter and Ona Lee (Hightower) Porter. \r\n\r\nAfter graduating from high school in Wichita Falls, TX, he went into the Navy in 1944 and served honorably for two years in the Pacific theater. He returned home to attend college where he met Elizabeth; it was love at first sight that lasted through the next 58 years. He graduated from Midwestern University, class of 1950. He worked primarily in the insurance field in sales and administration in Abilene and Dallas. He spent the last 20 years of his career at Aetna Life in Hartford, CT in management. He was on the New England Regional Ethics Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers. He retired from Aetna in 1991 as Chief Compliance Officer for mutual fund investments. After retiring, he spent several years on the Board of Directors of Neuberger and Berman. He and Elizabeth moved to Kerrville where he enjoyed going for long drives with Elizabeth, playing poker with friends, fishing and boating, and playing golf. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his two daughters: Marilee Porter and her husband Rodney C. Dimock, and Martha Ann Petersen and her husband John F. Petersen; his grandson Jeffrey Scott Uzzel; and his sister Marilyn Paquin. \r\n \r\nA private service was held. \r\n \r\nThe family wishes to thank Caring Senior Services, Alpine Terrace and Gentiva Hospice for their professional care. \r\n\r\nMemorial donations may be made to The Kathleen C.
