Robert 'Bob' Lawrence, 94, of Kerrville, passed away on December 11, 2016 in Brookdale. He was born in Ottawa, Kansas to Rev. C.V. Lawrence and Emma Collins Lawrence on March 30, 1922. He married Lydia Ann Salsberry on December 25, 1942 in Harper County, Kansas.\r\n \r\nBob attended school in many Kansas towns, because his father was a Baptist Preacher who worked for Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City. He attended 2 years of college in Winfield, Kansas. Bob worked as an industrial engineer for Boeing for 40+ years in Wichita, Kansas and Washington State. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army where he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and WWII Victory Medal. He was an ordained deacon of the Baptist Church and served in that capacity in many churches in Kansas, Washington State, and Arizona. He was a founding member and treasurer of Rose Hill, Kansas Baptist Church for many years. His call letters as a Texas Radio Operator were w0bvk.\r\n \r\nHe was an active Ham for over 65 years. He was a Gideon and a faithful supporter of the Texas Baptist Men Water Well Drilling Ministry.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Ann Lawrence, one brother and 4 sisters.\r\n \r\nBob is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Kettlewell, husband Ralph and Marilyn Alice Sanford, husband Larry; grandchildren, Robert Allen Sanford, Cheryl Ann Mallette, and Ronda Bethann Hearne; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held at 10 A.M., December 22, 2016 at Sunrise Baptist Church Kerrville with Dr. Melburn Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio at 2:00 PM.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be sent to Alto Frio Baptist Encampment in Leakey, Texas or to the Texas Baptist Men, 5351 Catron Drive, Dallas, TX 75227-9932.\r\n \r\nThe family of Bob Lawrence wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Oei, Dr. James Young, and the nurses and physical therapists at Peterson.
