With unbearable sadness and heartache, we announce the passing of Robert Conrad Hartmann, 78, of Kerrville, Texas. He passed away on May 7, 2015 at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville with his wife and daughter by his side.\r\n \r\nHe was born June 30, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Velma and Robert Hartmann Sr. He was married to Sarah (Dee) Delorease Cratty on December 20, 1963 in Long Beach, California. \r\n \r\nHe studied and graduated from Colorado School of Mines and furthered his education at Berkley earning a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He worked for various oil corporations throughout his professional career completing his career as Vice President of Pennzoil. He was a proud patriot and veteran for the US Army serving as a Deep Sea Diver with the Corps of Engineers. His duties included salvage and rescue earning a medal for his courage, leadership and commitment. He was involved in many organizations including Colorado School of Mines Alumni, Wounded Warrior Project, NRA, Charter Member of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Madd, The Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever/The Habitat Organization.\r\n \r\nRobert Conrad Hartmann is preceded in death by his father, Robert Conrad Hartmann Sr; his mother, Velma Hartmann; and his younger brother, James (Jim) Hartmann.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his lifetime love and wife of almost 52 years, Sarah D. Hartmann; loving father of his only daughter, Katherine Anne Hartmann Vanek; proud grandfather to his two grandsons, Dyllan Robert Vanek and Kameron Todd Vanek; sister in law, Mary Hartmann; proud uncle of his two nephews, Curtis and John Hartmann; Pierre Minjauw; many lifelong friends whom all loved and cherished him dearly.\r\n \r\nA Celebration of Life was held May 14, 2015 at their residence from 4-7 PM. Later this summer, his daughter will plan a celebration of life in honor of her father at the families' cabin in Walker, Minnesota where his ashes will be placed into Leech Lake as he requested.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given in his remembrance to Colorado School of Mines, The Salvation Army or The Wounded Warrior Project.\r\n \r\nThe family of Robert Conrad Hartmann wishes to extend sincere thanks to all family and friends whom have extended their love and friendship throughout the years.\r\n \r\nHe will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, a true gentleman whom always thought of others and took great care of those he loved, an avid fisherman and hunter, a world traveler, an amazing storyteller, a fountainhead of knowledge and always a source of encouragement and inspiration. As his grandson put it, "Grandpa knows more than Google."\r\n \r\nRobert Conrad Hartmann was devoted to his family and friends, worked very hard and accomplished much in his professional career, traveled and lived around the world and embraced life to the fullest. He had a huge heart, gave the best hugs and "butterfly" kisses and had an amazing disposition. All who met him loved him. He will be missed more than any words could ever convey.
