Robert Edwards

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert “Bob” Lee Edwards of Pipe Creek, Texas, on January 1, 2022, at the age of 86 years.

Bob was born in Shobonier, Illinois, on July 6, 1935, to George Edwards and Lucinda Radcliff Edwards. He attended Bradley University for two years where he studied industrial electronics. In 1955, Bob entered the US Air Force and served four years as a Physical Conditioning Specialist at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. While serving in the US Air Force, he met the love of his life and best friend, Ann Christine Shiflet Edwards. They would marry on June 6, 1959.

In December 1959, Bob accepted a position at Southwest Research Institute and received his Professional License as a Registered Engineer in Quality Engineering from the State of California in 1977. After 45 years, Bob retired from Southwest Research Institute. Bob had a love for his horses, hunting with his family and friends, and working at his home that he built in Pipe Creek in 1967.

Bob will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Ann; 5 children and their spouses, Robert Edwards (Terri), Gary Edwards (Shelly), David Edwards (Bonnie), Paula Flach (Richard), and Jackie Ward (Charles); grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Clayton, Jennifer, Abby, Zane, Austin, Lucas, Alexa, Garrett, Kodie, Dustyn, Maddie, and Mia; and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, George and Lucinda; and siblings, Lawrence, Betty, Darrell, Larry, and Jackie.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry St, Bandera, Texas 78003. A burial service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209, at 2:15 p.m.
