Robert Russell Beaver, 54, of Ingram, passed away on Dec. 27, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas, from complications of diabetes.\r\n\r\nA memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, 728 Jefferson St. in Kerrville. Officiating will be Chris Christopherson.\r\n\r\nBeaver was born Nov. 20, 1962, in Kerrville, Texas, the son of Bobby Russell Beaver and Judy J. Treiber Beaver.\r\n\r\nHe attended Lutheran School and then Hunt Elementary School, before graduating from Tivy High School as a member of the Class of 1980. He also attended Schreiner University for two years.\r\n\r\nGrowing up, Robert enjoyed competitive shooting sports, first through the Kerr County 4-H program and then later as part of the U.S. Junior Olympic Shooting Team., traveling to New Zealand and Queensland for contests.\r\n\r\nThroughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring classic automobiles. He later became a master craftsman, known in particular for his woodworking skills and his ability to artistically tool leather goods.\r\n\r\nBeaver was the oldest of two sons. His younger brother, Kevin Scott Beaver, died in 2008. \r\n\r\nAlso preceding him in death were his grandmother, Selma Lillian Pumphrey Treiber; grandfather, Michael Fritz Treiber, and uncles, Joe T. Meyer and Leon Michael Treiber.\r\n\r\nIn addition to his parents, Beaver is survived by: his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Joshua Lee and Jessica Lynn Beaver, and their son, Halston Colt Beaver, of Hunt; and a long list of aunts, cousins and friends.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be made in his honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
