Richard 'Rickey' Spence, 69, passed away peacefully in his home in Kerrville on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Rickey was born October 2, 1947 in Houston, Texas. \r\n \r\nHe attended Rice University where he played college football. At the age of 20 years old, he joined the United States Army. He proudly served in the Vietnam War earning the Distinguished Service Cross between 1967-1973. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he entered the construction field and worked all over Texas. In 2002, Rickey began his career with Huser Construction and retired as a Construction Superintendent in 2015. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Corliss "Corky" Spence. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his children, Casey Spence and Carly Dusek; son-in-law, Kevin Dusek; daughter-in-law, Tasha Spence; and grandchildren, Zack Dusek, Lex Dusek, Olivia Spence and Morgan Dusek.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Garden of Memories Cemetery officiated by Rev. Richard Martin. \r\n
