Richard "Rick" Lewis Sparkman, 68, of Kerrville, passed away on June 7, 2016 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Brownwood, TX to Lewis Aaron Sparkman and Lorine Louise Konze on June 19, 1947. He married Sandra Kaye Tanner on June 18, 1970 in Lampasas, TX.\r\n \r\nRick attended school in Lampasas, and then graduated with a bachelor degree from the University of Texas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army flying helicopters for over 5 years. He was awarded the Air Medal with "V" Device, the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and 3 Overseas Service Bars. After serving in the Army, he worked in electrical wholesaling for Summer's Electric and Buffalo Electric until he started his own business Sparkman Supply Services where he worked until he helped start the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and retired after a brief stint as the Manager of the Lowe's Electrical Department. \r\n \r\nRick was actively involved with his family, served as a Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, volunteered at the VA and mentored at Starkey Elementary. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads and spending time talking about the rich culture and history surrounding the treasures he found. \r\n \r\nRick is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Lorine. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife Sandra; his son, Wade and his wife Kerri; his son, Andy and his wife Julie; his brother, Dan and sister Debbie; his grandchildren, Taylor, Chrislyn, Rebecca, Daniel, David, and Annalise.\r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held at 10AM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church with John Wheat officiating. Private burial service will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.
