Richard Lee Reeves died on the morning of December 30, 2017. He was surrounded by great love and went peacefully to be with our Lord Jesus and reunion with those gone before him. Many loved ones were rejoicing in Heaven and at Rainbow Bridge.\r\n \r\nRichard was born in Henrietta, Oklahoma on December 19, 1924 and moved to McKinney, Texas at a young age where he attended school.\r\n \r\nHe joined the US Navy at the age of 16 and proudly served his country as a gunner on the battleship USS Colorado during World War II. He enjoyed reunions with shipmates in later years and spoke fondly of his time in the U.S. Navy.\r\n \r\nRichard worked at V.A. Hospital for 39 years. It was there in McKinney, Texas that he met Ramona Martin. They married in 1960 and were blessed with four children. He was transferred with V.A. Hospital to Kerrville in 1965 and lived there until his passing.\r\n \r\nRichard loved God and was a member of First Baptist Church of Kerrville. He and Ramona raised their children in a Christian home and he "walked his talk" every day.\r\n \r\nMany will miss this man; a kind and gentle spirit who befriended everyone he met. He loved all animals and those who knew him understood he had a special way with them. We will remember him in all the things he enjoyed in life; cowboy movies and country western music, his pets and animals of all kinds, the ocean and trips to the Galveston, sitting on the porch with hot coffee, feeding the deer and birds in the yard. He enjoyed working in the yard and he especially loved roses. Richard loved going for a drive and looking at the river. Simple pleasures and time with family made him happy.\r\n \r\nRichard was devoted to his family and was the best husband and father anyone could ask for - always having time for activities and events with his children. He and Ramona taught them a love of God and Country and instilled in them a desire to serve others.\r\n \r\nRichard is survived by Ramona, his loving wife of 57 years, along with his devoted children, JuLee Reeves, Jan and Robert King, David Reeves, Micheal Reeves and Scott Mesteller and his sister, Wanda Condon. He leaves behind grandchildren, Laura Dodgen, Donna Combs, Cyndi King, Crystal Reeves and Lisa Reeves, and many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Annie Mae (born Walston) and his father Olva Reeves in addition to his sisters Margaret, Wilma and brother Charles.\r\n \r\nRichard lived a full life with a positive attitude, and a generous loving spirit. Surely when he met Jesus, he heard, "Well done good and faithful servant."\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held at 10:45 AM, Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ft.
