Richard Neal "Dick" Eilerman of Kerrville passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at the age of 88.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Joyce Eilerman; son, Tom Eilerman and Sondra of Calhoun, Georgia; daughter, Lynda Senkbeil and Carl of Huntsville, Alabama; son, David Eilerman and Becky of Lacey Springs, Alabama; stepdaughters, Danette Stone and Mark of Riverton, Wyoming, Kirsten Oldershaw of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Janelle Mello and Steve of Riverdale, California; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; and their beloved cat, Callie.\r\n\r\nHe was predeceased by his parents and sister, Elaine Brandt.\r\n\r\nMr. Eilerman was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Gladys and Harry Eilerman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After graduating with a degree in chemical engineering from Ohio State University, he accepted a position with Thiokol in Huntsville, Alabama. He then worked for 25 years at NASA on rocket propulsion for the space program. He relocated to Lompoc, California, to work for Martin Marietta for 10 years until his retirement.\r\n\r\nMr. Eilerman was active with his sons in the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver, the Scout's distinguished service award. While living in Huntsville, he was a member and served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church. As a Kerrville resident, he was very involved in his neighborhood association, volunteering at Peterson Regional Medical Center, where he was known as "The Popcorn Man," and was a proud member of the Kerrville Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association. He was member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Eilerman loved round and square dancing and was both an instructor and a cuer. He also was a strong advocate and supporter of the Republican Party.\r\n\r\nA celebration of life was held at the Vicksburg Village Clubhouse.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, please make donations to Kerrville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Peterson Regional Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary or the Boy Scouts of America.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the city of Kerrville Police Department and the residents of Vicksburg Village for their outpouring of love and support.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
