Richard Baker

On January 23, 2020, Richard Stephen Baker, 67, passed away unexpectedly in Kerrville, Texas. He was a resident of Severn, Maryland for many years and just recently moved to Kerrville. Rick was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 14, 1952.\r\n\r\nRick was a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Trinity University, he was a member of the ROTC program and was commissioned in the Army. Rick served in the Army as a Signal Officer for five years and attained the rank of Captain. \r\n\r\nUpon leaving the Army, he relocated to Maryland after finding employment with Westinghouse which later became Northrop Grumman. He worked for them for 35 years as a Systems Engineer, designing and developing radar systems in the USA and abroad.\r\n\r\nHis many loves included traveling, motorcycling, hiking, volunteer tax preparation and assisting in the care of and adoption of stray animals. He was very handy and could fix most anything and often volunteered to fix things for others. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Mary Sue of 33 years; his sister, Kathi Baker Crusius; a nephew, Keith Crusius; and nieces, Jennifer LeClerc, Julie Baker and Deanna Crusius; in addition to many great-nieces and nephews and his precious dog, Polka Dot.\r\n\r\nRick was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Charles Baker and Alice Knight Baker and brothers, John Keith Baker and Ronald Charles Baker. \r\n\r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, January 27, 2020 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with a prayer service beginning at 6 PM.\r\n\r\nBurial with military honors will be held at 10:15 AM, Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.\r\n
