Rebecca Ann Kelly Jons, 66, of Kerrville, Texas, entered into Resurrection Life on Saturday, June 18, 2016.\r\n \r\nA Memorial Service in celebration of Rebecca's life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kerrville, on Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stockton Williams and the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. A reception will follow in Tucker Hall.\r\n \r\nRebecca was born in Houston, Texas, on 22 October, 1949, to Roy Eli Kelly, Jr., and Virginia "Ginny" Mae Polk Kelly. \r\n \r\nRebecca grew up in Missouri City, Texas, and graduated from John Foster Dulles High School (1968). During her high school years she was selected as Miss Sugarland for the Junior Miss Texas Pageant. She attended Southwestern University, Georgetown, TX, from 1968-1970, and then obtained a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas in 1973. She married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Ritman "Rit" Jons, in 1970. Rit and Rebecca lived in Austin, TX, while Rit attended Law School. During this time, Rebecca worked for Texas Speaker of the House, Gus Mutscher. After Rit's graduation from the University of Texas Law School in 1973, they lived an Army life in numerous places including three years in Germany. Wanting to live closer to family after years of military service, Rebecca and Rit decided to settle in Kerrville in 1977, where Rit opened his own law practice.\r\n \r\nDuring the early years living in Kerrville, Rebecca shared her love of music by teaching piano lessons to Hill Country children. She was invited by Mary Helen Schreiner to become one of the first members of the Hill Country Charity Ball Association in 1984. Rebecca fulfilled her calling to sing praise to the Lord through her gift of music, and became the Organist and Music Director at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in February of 1990. She also was a founding Trustee of the Coming King Foundation.\r\n \r\nRebecca's passion for music was evident to everyone who knew her. She woke daily with joy in her heart, no matter the circumstances she faced, and gave God all the glory. Her life was truly a Lifesong to the Lord.\r\n \r\nA loving wife, mother, grandmother (Boo), Sister, Aunt, friend….Rebecca was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rit, and is survived by their 3 children and their spouses: Hugh (Kamme) Jons, Paris (Saphronia) Jons, Kelly Jons (Mitch) McGuffie.
