Raymond Fulton Barker died peacefully on August 11, 2018 in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by mother Martha Starr Barker, father Bob F. Barker, sisters Nila Ruth Barker and Mildred McIntosh, and mother of his children Naomi Barker. \r\n\r\nBorn into a San Saba, Texas farming family, he used this knowledge in his early banking career to guide farmers in building their businesses. He spent twenty years in banking in the Lubbock, Texas area, at American State Bank of Lubbock and First State Bank of Shallowater. In 1971 he moved to Kerrville, Texas to become President of Chas. Schreiner Bank and Schreiner Bancshares multi-bank holding company. He served on the Boards of James Avery Craftsman and Schreiner College. He was appointed by Governor Clements in 1987 to the Board of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) where he brought his personal knowledge of the needs of rural residents to improve LCRA's services. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1992 to serve as Deputy General Manager of the LCRA, where he was a calm, purposeful advisor. In his later years, he joined with some of his esteemed colleagues and friends to organize the "Table of Wisdom". In 2017 he returned to Kerrville to enjoy the slower pace. \r\n\r\nThroughout his life Raymond was a role model and mentor to many, always willing to lend an ear or share some advice. RB, as he was as affectionately known, took great care of his family and was loved dearly. He is survived by wife Cory Barker, daughter Ranita Nunn of Austin, Texas, daughter Brenda Ressmann and husband Russell of Hunt, Texas, step-daughter Sherry Zander of Portland, Oregon, granddaughter Amy Nunn of Austin, Texas, grandson Hunter Rathke and wife Samantha of Kerrville, Texas, great-granddaughters Chloe Chisholm and Jela Rathke, great-grandson Jos Rathke, sister Barbara Worley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. \r\n\r\nServices will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, Texas. Visitation will be held between 5:00 and 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Kerrville, Texas. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made instead to the Parkinson Foundation- parkinson.org 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or Peterson Health Foundation, 551 Hill Country Dr., Kerrville, TX 78028.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the ICU Nurses at PRMC, Nurses at Peterson Hospice & Riverhills Health & Rehab, the caregivers from Home Instead, Dr. David Miloy and Dr. James T.
