Raymond Adamietz

October 6, 1941 — October 29, 2022

Raymond Joseph Adamietz was born on October 6, 1941 to Henry Raymond and Dorothy Rose (Mazurek) Adamietz in their home on the banks of the Julian Creek, just outside of Bandera. The eldest of ten children, and a great grandson of some of the original Polish settlers in Bandera, he lived in Bandera all his life.

He married Carolyn Faye Schulte on July 1, 1967 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. They had two children, Deann Marie and Troy Raymond. They also had one granddaughter, Hayley Nicole Moore, whom they both doted on from the day she was born.

Known far and wide as a "Doc" to friends, family, and just about everyone he ever met, he was a quiet man, who enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and reading. He was not a man of many words, but he shared his opinions readily, with anyone - and everyone - when he felt the need to. He knew a little about how to do everything from making homemade wine and grafting trees, to knitting and making the best dang Polish coffee cakes using his mothers handed down recipe.

He worked for Conoco at the Purple Sage Ranch for 35 years. As an avid hunter and sportsman, he competed in the World Skeet Shoot for 30 years. In the 1980s, he was elected to the Bandera City Council, and served as a councilman for several years before being elected as the mayor of Bandera. He served as mayor for eight years in the 1980s and 1990s.

Raymond passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the age of 81. He is survived by his children, Deann and Troy; his granddaughter, Hayley; four sisters: Margaret, Dorothy, Sylvia ("Sib"), and Rita; one brother, Bryan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30 am with a Mass to follow at 10:00 am on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Kurzaj officiating. Interment to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery (new).
